I’m becoming a sailor so I decided to take the day skipper course
I’ve decided I want to buy a yacht and charge people to take them on afternoon trips. I live in an area that gets a lot of tourism, and there’s plenty of money to be made. I don’t know much about yachting but I do have some previous experience. Just like any career, I’m going to need some education, and in this case, I’ll have to take some sailing courses. The RYA courses are probably the best way to get ready for a career like this. Since I already have some experience, I’ll start with the day skipper certification course.
You can think of the day skipper training as a beginner’s course in basic seamanship. After you finish it, you’re ready for some of the more advanced sailing courses. The other RYA courses take you all the way up to master yachtsman level, and that’s what I’ll be aiming for. If I’m going to be charging people to take them out to sea, I want to have all the right credentials, and enough knowledge to feel confident in any situation.
I’m pretty excited about taking my sailing courses and getting on with my new career. After I get my day skipper certification, I’ll have to do several other courses, and it may take a long time, but I think it will be worth it. I’m honestly glad we have the RYA courses, and I can’t wait to get started.
