Unfortunately, it seems like this might be a more difficult task than I first anticipated. There are a lot of scams out there, so I need to be very careful about what kinds of positions I apply for. But there are some legitimate jobs for stay at home moms out there, and reading a handful of success stories has inspired me not to give up.
One of the most common jobs for stay at home moms seems to be in the medical coding and billing field. These types of positions involve data entry work, and pay very well. But they also require a certificate and lots of training, so I wouldn’t be able to start working right away.
Transcription jobs for stay at home moms are also quite popular these days. To qualify for one of these positions, you need to have good typing skills and have to have some special equipment (such as software and a foot pedal) to make transcribing on your computer a bit easier. Unlike medical coding, there is entry-level transcription work available even to those with no certificates or experience. This is something I definitely want to check out.
Most other jobs for stay at home moms involve selling, which is not my strong suit at all. I know there are some women that make a pretty good income from hosting home parties, recruiting people for their MLM business, or selling cosmetics, but there is absolutely no way I could impose on my friends and family like that. If you can do it, more power to you. That’s just not my style at all.

He just wants to know why your resume is supposed to be important to him; so that’s all you need to tell him.
A cover letter for a resume is supposed to be something that gets the hiring manager personally interested in you. So you need to have everything in there, custom written for that particular company, for that particular job. Let’s say your job has a lot to do with putting together a top-notch customer service unit for a cell phone maker. You need to play up your technical prowess, your organizing skills and the accomplishments in your past that play up your ability to speak to the tech heads and the customers. If you put in a generic cover letter that says something not entirely applicable - like how great you were at being an assembly line foreman at a previous job, you must make no more than a mention of it. The idea also is to play up your assets, without laboring the point. As far as possible, try to describe your aptness for the job by putting in specifics. That way, you make your point and yet don’t tend to sound so cocky. If instead of explaining how your customer service organizing skills have resulted in a 98% satisfaction vote for customers at your previous job, you just say that you have magical people skills, that might not look so good.

20 Questions Game: A Family Affair
When we were growing up, one of the things we would do at family outings and special
occasions was play the 20 questions game, in which one person says they are thinking of
a person, place or thing, and then everybody else tries to guess what it is.
The main rule to the game is that every question can only be answered by “yes” or “no,”
and in the version we played, the people who were guessing were allowed one hint. Hours
would go by, and we would hardly realize it because it was so much fun.
The object of the game for the person who chooses the person, place or thing is to try
to think of something so obscure that nobody could ever guess what it is. One of
the more memorable moments in the 20 questions game for our family came when my sister,
who was about four years old at the time and did not quite grasp the concept of the game,
said, “I’m thinking of a box.”
We all had a good laugh at that one, and the general idea was just to have fun with the game.
What I soon discovered was that it is a game that you can play at practically any age level
and is something that has carried over to my own family today.
Whenever we have down time at an airport or during the holiday season, for instance, my son
will usually start the 20 questions game off by saying, “I’m thinking of a person.”
We can usually figure out pretty easily who he is thinking about, because it is usually
someone we’ve just been discussing or a person who’s picture is up on the wall in the area
we are all sitting. After he starts it, however, we all chime in with our own person,

family can feel like they are really contributing something. My wife and I are always
very encouraging to our children with the choices they make, and I can always see a
little sense of pride in them when they have come up with a good answer that has taken

just because it is such a simple concept and is something that everybody enjoys doing.
Most of us think about meals or recreation time as a great opportunity for us to bond

particularly amusing. One could see when a candidate was trying too hard to please, as well as
when the interviewing participant was thrilled or disappoint with an answer. In the few minutes
alloted to make their choice, the chooser, with great fanfare and drama, would announce who was to
be their date. Results were mixed – sometimes the person choosing was obviously happy and sometimes
definitely disappointed.

that was that.
Now, fast forward to today’s reality style dating programs. What a difference! It seems that the
public’s appetite for both fanfare and rewards has grown. Instead of a

sparkling chandeliers, the chooser and candidates mingle, getting to know one another.
Again, as in the 1960’s, viewers are privy to all the little details of conversations and telling
expressions. There’s in-depth interviews, heart-to-heart talks between chooser and candidate, and
even some physical contact. A little bit of everything.
As for the rewards, the modern dating shows are over the top, sending the
‘winning’ couple on extravagant island vacations lasting a week or more, in ritzy accommodations
not unlike the 1960’s participants would never have dreamed possible.
